The Panda and Penguin updates have had a powerful impact on websites across the World. Small businesses, affiliate marketers, blog owners, news sites and guides especially, have experienced drastic reductions in visitor numbers and profit.

Since the panic had started in early 2011, the vast majority of negatively affected sites still haven't recovered.

New businesses are finding it even harder to obtain good rankings in Google's free organic search system.

With the Panda and Penguin constantly punishing sites, the smaller businesses and unique home-grown sites get the biggest hits, while the big players get and even stronger boost.

For years, Google has been the place where the tiniest site could compete with the biggest sites. If you had a small travel agency in a small town, you had the possibility to outrun even the big airlines of the World - if you marketed smartly.

Now that is not the case anymore, Google is favoring the big, the strong, the already established sites, because the Panda and Penguin algorithms.

Seems like, instead of being able to improve search quality significantly, Google managed to slam small ethical businesses, while a plethora of "black hatters" are still maintainging high-position sites.

The Panda and Penguin algortihms have also brought devastation to whole e-business branches, especiall online marketing and this doesn't just mean SEO, but also ad space sales and affiliate marketing.
